The City of Claremore provides water and sewer service to every resident inside its limits. Septic work around Claremore is on the homes and acreage past that line, in unincorporated Rogers County. That is where septic service in Claremore, OK comes in. The ground out there is hard on a septic field. Much of it holds water in winter or sits on shallow sandstone.
Eastern Oklahoma Septic Services is based in Sapulpa, and Claremore is part of our service area. We handle septic system installation for new homes on lots without city sewer, and we replace systems that have failed. We put in conventional tanks with lateral lines and aerobic systems with spray heads. Call or text (918) 645-0557, and we look at the job and put the quote in writing.

Claremore is the county seat of Rogers County and home of Rogers State University. Homes inside the city limits are on city sewer. Septic questions start where those limits end.
A Claremore mailing address can sit well outside the city. On Census maps, the 74017 ZIP code covers about 140 square miles of land, and 74019 about 114. The city limits take up about 15 square miles across the two.
If you are not sure which side of the line your lot is on, the city can tell you. For lots outside it, the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, or DEQ, approves each new septic system.
Take the Rogers County land within about 3 miles of the city limits. On NRCS soil maps, four soils cover more than half of it: Bates, Dennis, Hector and Verdigris. Bates and Dennis soils lie on gentle slopes, Hector soils cap stony ridges, and Verdigris soils line the flood plains.
NRCS rates about 94 percent of that land very limited for septic absorption fields. It flags slow water movement on about two thirds of it and depth to bedrock on more than half. Hector soils reach hard sandstone 14 to 20 inches down. Bates soils hit sandstone or shale at 20 to 40 inches.
Dennis soils hold a perched water table 12 to 30 inches down from December to April in normal years. Verdigris soils are subject to flooding. A soil map is a starting point. The DEQ soil test on your lot sets which system types it may use. Those include conventional lateral lines and an aerobic septic system with spray heads.
DEQ lists design-only minimum spray areas for aerobic systems county by county. Its county layer puts Rogers County in net evaporation zone 5 and Tulsa County in zone 6. For a three-bedroom home, the minimum is 4,855 square feet in Rogers County and 3,531 in Tulsa County. So the same house needs a spray field about 37 percent larger here.
Design only is a DEQ route for an aerobic system with spray. It uses the property's location and other details instead of a soil test on the lot. DEQ always bases those designs on Group 5 soil, the soil with the highest clay content.
On that route, a Rogers County home needs at least 3,641 square feet of spray area for two bedrooms. Four bedrooms need 6,068 square feet, and each added bedroom adds 1,214. On a smaller lot, lay out the spray area before the house plan is final.
DEQ approves new septic systems in Rogers County. The first step is the Report for On-Site Sewage, often called the 581. It sets which types of systems the property may use.
For a soil profile test, at least three holes or pits are dug in the dispersal area. Only DEQ or a soil profiler holding DEQ certification may run that test. The results set the system types the lot may use.
Next, DEQ issues an Authorization to Construct, which has to be bought and issued before a new system goes in. DEQ assigns it to its local environmental specialist for the property's area. Last, the new system is inspected and approved before it goes into use.
