Septic Tank Pumping in Sapulpa, OK

Septic Tank Pumping · Sapulpa, OK

An empty tank and a plain account of its condition

Septic tank pumping takes out the sludge and scum that build up in your tank. Eastern Oklahoma Septic Services pumps and cleans septic tanks for homes in Sapulpa and across the Tulsa area. We pump conventional tanks and the tanks on aerobic systems. While the tank is open, we check it and its baffles, then tell you what we see.

Pumping on a schedule keeps sludge in the tank and out of your lateral lines, also called the drain field. Solids that reach the lines can clog them, and lateral line repair is a bigger job than a pump-out. We are based in Sapulpa and pump tanks about 40 miles around it, across Creek County and the Tulsa area. We also handle repairs and septic system installation in Sapulpa and nearby towns.

  • Pumping for the tanks on aerobic septic systems

  • A look over the tank for cracks and leaks
  • What we saw in the tank, told to you in plain words

What we check during septic tank cleaning

A septic tank holds wastewater while the solids settle out. Heavy solids sink and form sludge, and grease floats to the top as scum. Baffles hold both layers in the tank, and only the liquid flows on to the lateral lines.

We pump the tank until it is empty. Then we check the baffles and look over the tank for cracks. We tell you what we saw. If a part needs fixing, we put the septic system repair quote in writing.

Write down the date of each pumping and what we found. The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) publishes a homeowner guide with a maintenance record page. That record helps you time the next pumping.

How often does a septic tank in the Tulsa area need pumping?

The DEQ homeowner guide says to pump every three to five years under average conditions. The right interval depends on the tank's size and how many people use it.

The guide charts a 1,000 gallon tank as an example. With two people in the home, it lists six years between pumpings. With four people it lists three years, and with six people, two. The guide says the chart should not take the place of measuring the sludge.

Some habits fill a tank faster. The guide says a home with a garbage disposal should plan on pumping every one to two years. Paper towels, cat litter, grease and coffee grounds stay in the tank, because its bacteria cannot readily break them down. A day of back-to-back laundry can push solids out toward the lateral lines.

Septic pumping for aerobic systems

An aerobic system starts with a trash tank, where solids settle out. Next, an air pump bubbles air through the wastewater to treat it. The treated water then goes out through the spray heads.

Solids build up in the trash tank much like they do in a conventional tank. Oklahoma's extension service says to check them at least every six months. It says to pump the tank when the sludge reaches 40 percent of its liquid capacity.

We pump the tanks on aerobic systems as well as conventional tanks. The aerator and the spray heads get their own checks during aerobic septic system maintenance.

FAQ

Septic Tank Pumping Questions, Answered

Common questions about septic tank pumping around Sapulpa and the Tulsa area. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (918) 645-0557

How much does septic tank pumping cost?
The price depends mostly on the size of the tank and how easy the lid is to reach. An aerobic system has more than one tank, which changes the job too. We look at the job and put the quote in writing. Call or text (918) 645-0557 to start.
How do I know my septic tank needs pumping?
The surest way is to pump on a schedule, before trouble starts. Slow drains and a sewage smell in the yard can both mean a pump-out is due. The DEQ guide also says to pump when the sludge reaches 40 percent of the tank's depth.
Is septic tank cleaning the same as septic tank pumping?
Most people use the two terms for the same visit, and so do we. The tank gets pumped until it is empty. The DEQ guide says to have all the contents removed. It also says the tank needs no scrubbing or disinfecting afterward.
Do septic tank additives replace pumping?
No. The DEQ guide does not recommend additives. It says the bacteria a tank needs come in with the wastewater, and no product ends the need for pumping. Some products can even kill the helpful bacteria in the tank.
How do I find my septic tank?
Start with the system's original inspection report, which should show where the tank sits. The DEQ guide says your local DEQ office can give you a copy. You can also find the clean-out pipe near the house and see which way it runs. Once you find the tank, mark the spot so no one drives over it.
Will pumping fix a septic backup?
Sometimes. A tank that is overdue for pumping can back up into the house, and pumping clears it. Roots in the pipes cause backups too, and a clog in the house plumbing is a plumber's job. If sewage is in the house now, call or text (918) 645-0557 about emergency septic service.
